About our speakers

Dr. Imran Satia, M.A MB BChir (cantab) MRCP PhD

Dr. Imran Satia is an internationally renowned expert in the field of Chronic Cough. He is currently an Assistant Professor at McMaster University for the Department of Medicine Division of Respirology. He completed his medical degree at the University of Cambridge, UK and also completed a PhD at the University of Manchester. He was a co-author on the most recent ERS Chronic Cough guidelines and is scientific advisor for pharmaceutical companies developing new cough therapies. He has been an invited speaker at national and international medical conferences and has authored numerous publications on the mechanisms and treatment of cough.

Elena Kum, MD/PhD Student

Elena Kum is a first-year MD/PhD student at McMaster University. Her research work includes developing an outcome measure to assess cough severity, leading a dose-response meta-analysis investigating the safety and effectiveness of P2X3 antagonists, and conducting clinical trials evaluating the effectiveness of currently available therapies for patients with chronic cough.
