Learning Objectives

After attending the session, participants will be able to:

  • Explain what a biologic is, how it differs from an inhaler and from a steroid, and why it is added to inhalers, not used instead of them

  • Recognize why every flare-up counts, including those treated at home, and why none should be considered normal

  • Describe who may be eligible for a biologic: repeated flare-ups despite optimized inhaled therapy, and a blood eosinophil count

  • Follow the steps of care on a biologic: the blood test, coverage forms, the first injection, and follow-up visits

  • Know what still helps when a biologic is not an option, and which questions to bring to your next appointment

  • For health professionals: assess and count flare-ups, and find the five practical clinical tools
