Objectives

  • Describe routine clinical collaboration between respirology and otolaryngology in the assessment and management of severe asthma with comorbid CRSwNP.

  • Apply a practical screening approach to identify nasal polyp disease in severe asthma patients, including the role of olfactory assessment, SNOT-22, and nasal endoscopy referral.

  • Recognize when a patient is not responding as expected to standard treatment and identify the red flags that signal an underlying diagnosis requiring referral beyond the respirology-ENT team.

Dr. Simon Couillard

Respirologist

Professor Couillard is a respirologist and the Québec Lung Association Chair of Respiratory Research at the Université de Sherbrooke, Canada. He leads a team investigating ways to use biomarkers to predict and prevent asthma attacks and improve asthma management.

Dr. Marc Tewfik

Otolaryngologist

Dr. Tewfik is an otolaryngologist, Associate Professor at McGill University, and Division Lead for Rhinology. His clinical practice focuses on tertiary rhinology and endoscopic skull base surgery, while his research explores chronic rhinosinusitis, including novel treatments for patients with and without nasal polyps. He is internationally recognized for his contributions to rhinology education, research, and surgical training.
