Our Speakers

Dr. Peter Lin, MD, CCFP

Dr. Peter Lin is the Director of Primary Care Initiatives at the Canadian Heart Research Centre. He continues to be a lecturer and speaker with two family practices in Toronto. He has also served in the past as the medical director at the University of Toronto’s Health and Wellness Centre at Scarborough. In an effort to raise the knowledge base of the general population, Dr. Lin has spoken at public forums directly to the public. He has been a medical expert for a series on the Discovery channel and is also the health columnist for CBC Radio and is heard across Canada.



Dr. Alan Kaplan, MD, CCFP(EM), FCFP

Alan Kaplan is a Family Physician working in York Region, Ontario, Canada and the Chairperson of the Family Physician Airways Group of Canada (www.fpagc.com), the Past-Chairperson of the Respiratory Section of the College of Family Physicians of Canada, and Senate member of the International Primary Care Respiratory Group. He co-chaired the Community Standards of COPD program for Health Quality Ontario. In addition, Dr. Kaplan provides his expertise to a number of medical journals across the world.


Dr. Mohit Bhutani, MD, FRCPC, FCCP

Dr. Mohit Bhutani is a Professor of Medicine in the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry at the University of Alberta. He is the director of the Asthma and COPD clinics and a member of the executive of the Alberta Research Center. He has been involved with the Alberta Health Services Respiratory Health Strategic Clinical Network since 2011 and, was co-chair of the Airways Working Group of the Respiratory Health Strategic Clinical Network (RHSCN) from 2014-2020. Nationally, he chairs the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Adult Respiratory Examination Board and is the past chair of the CTS COPD Clinical Assembly. He is a member of the CTS Executive Committee.


Dr. Simon Bacon, PhD, FTOS, FCCS, FABMR

Dr. Simon Bacon is a Full Professor in the Department of Health, Kinesiology, and Applied Physiology at Concordia University and an Adjunct Professor of Medicine at University of Montreal. He is a professor and CIHR SPOR Chair in Innovative, Patient-Oriented, Behavioural Clinical Trials, Health, Kinesiology and Applied Physiology. He is also the co-director of the Montreal Behavioral Medicine Centre (MBMC) – primary investigator of iCARE study, a researcher at the CIUSSS-NIM, and co-leads the International Behavioural Trials Network.
