Objectives

  • Distinguish between RSV, pneumococcal disease, influenza, and COVID-19 in terms of causative agents, transmission, and general epidemiology.

  • Interpret the current recommendations for each vaccine, including target populations and dosing schedules.

  • Discuss the vaccine effectiveness and safety to allow for a benefit: risk discussion for vaccination.

  • Summarize strategies to address vaccine hesitancy in a patient who is a candidate for respiratory vaccines.

  • Discuss a multidisciplinary, collaborative approach to increasing respiratory vaccine uptake.
